It has been our intention to return to some form of in-person learning as soon as it was determined by our health departments that it is both safer and feasible to do so. On September 21, during our virtual town hall with county health department officials, we reviewed the current coronavirus data for our community. To this end, our county health agency partners have made the recommendation that it is now appropriate for us to return to a hybrid learning model. Click here to watch the virtual town hall discussion about the data guiding our decisions and current levels in our community. Beginning Monday, October 5, we will be implementing a hybrid in-person learning schedule for all students who are not currently enrolled in the LaunchED program. LaunchED student’s schedules will not be impacted by this change.
Welcome to Erie Elementary! My name is Betsey Beamer and I have been teaching at this amazing school since 2001! I started here teaching 1st and 2nd grade, looping with my class from year to year. This journey led to an awesome opportunity to teach a 1st and 2nd grade combination class with the wonderful Mrs. Larson. From there, Kindergarten came a calling, and after 10 and a half years with the littlest learners, the path has led back to 1st grade. Each year has been an amazing opportunity to connect with the phenomenal kiddos and families of our Erie Community.
When I started at E.E., it was a hidden secret, and my class had 16 learners! My, how we have grown, and apparently the secret of our community and stellar school is no longer on the "down low"! I have two kiddos of my own who also attended Erie Elementary and they LOVED it! It is more than a school, it is a family for us. Being able to join in the journeys of our learners and their families has been a gift for me. I feel beyond fortunate to be a part of this incredible school!
When I am not immersed in the teaching and learning parts of my life, I especially love spending time with my family laughing, connecting, and playing. Another source of my happiness is yoga. I am certified as a 200 hour yoga teacher, as well as certified in teaching children's yoga. But my favorite part of yoga is finding and refining my own personal edge, and trying to learn to be present and mindful more. Off the mat, I find myself marveling at the mountains on my snowboard, reading great books, and loving dark chocolate.
My advice to anyone pondering elementary schools in Erie is steadfast: VISIT! Come on in and see what we all have to offer to you and your family. What you feel when you walk through the front doors of our schools will help you make your difficult decisions. There are phenomenal adventures to be had!
