Erie Elementary School’s Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Well this week brought with it a dreaded day of the year that I didn’t see coming….the 67th day of school. Imagine my fun in the lunchroom with 4th grade. If you haven’t heard of 6-7, be glad. 🙂 On a serious note though, it has been a busy week around here as we wrap up before Thanksgiving Break. I’ve been able to get into many classrooms and you need to know how incredibly amazing these teachers are. Your kids are so lucky to learn from them.

I have had a request from Conoco to ask that you refrain from parking in their parking lot. As you can imagine, they are losing business because patrons can’t access parking to go into the store. I wish I could offer another place to park but, as you know, we are so limited. I would encourage you to utilize the drop off lane. It is a quick and easy way to drop your students off and we have staff manning the areas from the drop off point to the door. Thank you for your help!

If you or someone you know is registering a preschooler for next year, please skip to the preschool information below in the newsletter. Big announcement; we will have a full day program as an option at Erie Elementary next year!

On behalf of all of us here at Erie Elementary, I want to wish you a safe and restful week with family and friends. We are so thankful to partner with you in your child’s education. Take care.

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year

St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

For more information about these updates – and what they mean for your child’s device — please click here.

A note from the library

We are out of the loaner dongles/headphones with type c adapters. If your child has lost or broken theirs, please send them with a new pair as we have gone through all of the spare ones that we had. Please complete the Erie Elementary School Student Support Survey. One for each child, in grades K-5, by Friday, September 5. Link to support survey

Elementary school is about academic excellence.  It is also about learning social skills, like making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, self-control, perspective taking and executive functioning skills like time-management and organization.  At the elementary level, we are building self-efficacy and sometimes we need a little help.

Counseling support at Erie Elementary School includes whole-class counseling lessons, small group and brief, solution-focused counseling opportunities with the goal of keeping students in the classroom, learning and relating to others appropriately.

This survey will help us assess the needs of grade levels and individual students, so that we can be proactive in our support.  Thank you for your participation.  Please contact Alissa Chute, School Counselor, with questions.
