Erie Elementary School’s Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The week has been another great one here at Erie El. Mrs. Apple has brought out her “Jungle Gym” and it is a huge hit with our students. Our 5th grade Student Leaders are also in the full swing of things doing their various assignments around the school. If you didn’t know about it, we have a group of 5th graders who apply and interview to be an Erie Tiger Student Leader. We then match them to a job of interest to them. They give up a recess to do their work. Some of them are mentors to other students, some help out in homeroom or specials, some work in Cub Club or during lunches, some help in the library and some even help with door checks; making sure our doors are locked around the school. It is an amazing opportunity and we love having them as leaders in our school. I hope you have a great weekend!

Lost and Found!

Please remind your child to check our lost and found; it is overflowing again and we want to make sure you have all of your belongings so they don’t get donated! Here are two short videos that you can watch to see what is in our lost and found. I hope you recognize something and have your student pick it up! IMG_5538.MOV. IMG_5537.MOV

Open House

On Monday, we will be having our very first Open House. This is open to any families who are interested in finding out more about our school before they make a choice about where to enroll their children, but anyone who would like to learn more about Erie Elementary is welcome to come. Please spread the word!

News from the office

Please pay your child’s 2025-26 $10.00 supplies fee as soon as possible. You can pay this through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This fee helps subsidize Erie Elementary’s supplies budget for our kids this year.  Thank you!

Attendance – We so appreciate your responsibility and cooperation in checking your students out on our electronic form when picking then up early from school. We ask that you don’t check students out early before you are at the school. We use the information to keep track of who is in our building for safety reasons. If you check them out the day before or hours before, we do not have accurate information in our system. Please check them out when you arrive at school. Also, please allow at least 10 minutes for us to find your student when you check them out. They are busy and in different areas throughout the days so sometimes it takes a bit for us to track them down. Thank you so much for your help!

Please complete the Erie Elementary School Student Support Survey. One for each child, in grades K-5, by Friday, September 5. Link to support survey

Elementary school is about academic excellence.  It is also about learning social skills, like making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, self-control, perspective taking and executive functioning skills like time-management and organization.  At the elementary level, we are building self-efficacy and sometimes we need a little help.

Counseling support at Erie Elementary School includes whole-class counseling lessons, small group and brief, solution-focused counseling opportunities with the goal of keeping students in the classroom, learning and relating to others appropriately.

This survey will help us assess the needs of grade levels and individual students, so that we can be proactive in our support.  Thank you for your participation.  Please contact Alissa Chute, School Counselor, with questions.
