Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you have had a great week. This is the time of year where we feel like we have really settled in to the school routine; students have adjusted in their new classrooms and are well into their learning. I see a lot of really fun and engaging lessons being taught and happy students all around.
We have noticed an uptick in students being distracted during the school day by phones and/or smart watches. Please take a moment to review our expectations in regards to personal devices,
Just a reminder that next Wednesday, September 3rd is a late start. Here is our late start morning schedule:
Doors Open 11:15
First Bell 11:30
Tardy Bell 11:35
Breakfast is not served on late start days. Also, remember, there is no school on Monday, September 1st so we will see you all back on Tuesday the 2nd. Enjoy your three day weekend!

Gifted and Talented Referral
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
If you would like to refer your student, please complete the referral form.

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year
St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

Please complete the Erie Elementary School Student Support Survey. One for each child, in grades K-5, by Friday, September 5. Link to support survey
Elementary school is about academic excellence. It is also about learning social skills, like making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, self-control, perspective taking and executive functioning skills like time-management and organization. At the elementary level, we are building self-efficacy and sometimes we need a little help.
Counseling support at Erie Elementary School includes whole-class counseling lessons, small group and brief, solution-focused counseling opportunities with the goal of keeping students in the classroom, learning and relating to others appropriately.
This survey will help us assess the needs of grade levels and individual students, so that we can be proactive in our support. Thank you for your participation. Please contact Alissa Chute, School Counselor, with questions.
