Erie Elementary School’s Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What a fun week we had! It was great to see a lot of you at Back to School Night on Wednesday. I hope you enjoyed seeing your child’s class and learning about the teacher, the classroom and our new PBIS system. Speaking of which, on Thursday we had our first PBIS assembly. The kids enjoyed it and it was fun to hear them do our Erie Tiger Chant. I shared some very exciting news with the students.

This is a big deal! It is based on growth of our students on iReady assessments from the beginning of last year to the end of last year. For context; here are the number of schools that were recognized this year for national/state by subject:

ELA – 112 nationwide, 11 Colorado (3 in St.Vrain)

Math – 85 nationwide, 5 Colorado (1 in St. Vrain)

Lyons Elementary- Math (59%) and Reading (60%) – this is our first school award in math!

Niwot Elementary – Reading (56%)

Erie Elementary – Reading (55%)

Here is a link to the article that is featured in the Superintendent Update.

I am so proud of our students and staff for their hard work and dedication to reach students’ fullest potential! Go SVVSD and Go Tigers!

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year

St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

Please complete the Erie Elementary School Student Support Survey. One for each child, in grades K-5, by Friday, September 5. Link to support survey

Elementary school is about academic excellence.  It is also about learning social skills, like making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, self-control, perspective taking and executive functioning skills like time-management and organization.  At the elementary level, we are building self-efficacy and sometimes we need a little help.

Counseling support at Erie Elementary School includes whole-class counseling lessons, small group and brief, solution-focused counseling opportunities with the goal of keeping students in the classroom, learning and relating to others appropriately.

This survey will help us assess the needs of grade levels and individual students, so that we can be proactive in our support.  Thank you for your participation.  Please contact Alissa Chute, School Counselor, with questions.
