Erie Elementary School’s Weekly Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. It has been chilly as you know, but one good side effect is that a lot of winter gear has been picked up from the lost and found! Please make sure you check for anything your child might be missing. We will be donating items that are left over winter break.

I’m sure your student has mentioned that they have been doing iReady testing. I wanted to share that iReady testing is done three times a year; beginning, middle and end of school. At the beginning, it is to give us a baseline and a look into what students need. In the middle, we want to see where they are so we can ensure that students are growing and that nobody is falling through the cracks. At Erie Elementary, we believe in limiting testing to assessments that give us information to help us instruct our students to the best of our ability. Please let me know if you have any questions!

For the last week before winter break we will be having a Winter Spirit Week. Please see below.

Thank you, as always, for your continued communication and support. Have a wonderful weekend!

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year

St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

For more information about these updates – and what they mean for your child’s device — please click here.

Notes from our Health Office

If you haven’t already done so, please remember to provide updated immunizations, medication orders and/or health plans for this school year. If you have any questions, contact Rachal Kozlowitz in our Health Office at [email protected]. Thank you!

A note from the library

We are out of the loaner dongles/headphones with type c adapters. If your child has lost or broken theirs, please send them with a new pair as we have gone through all of the spare ones that we had. If you are unable to afford a replacement, please reach out so we can problem solve. Thank you for your help.

Please complete the Erie Elementary School Student Support Survey. One for each child, in grades K-5, by Friday, September 5. Link to support survey

Elementary school is about academic excellence.  It is also about learning social skills, like making and keeping friends, emotional regulation, self-control, perspective taking and executive functioning skills like time-management and organization.  At the elementary level, we are building self-efficacy and sometimes we need a little help.

Counseling support at Erie Elementary School includes whole-class counseling lessons, small group and brief, solution-focused counseling opportunities with the goal of keeping students in the classroom, learning and relating to others appropriately.

This survey will help us assess the needs of grade levels and individual students, so that we can be proactive in our support.  Thank you for your participation.  Please contact Alissa Chute, School Counselor, with questions.
