Preschool is an integral part of the educational process at Erie Elementary and the St. Vrain Valley School District. Erie Elementary provides an excellent preschool facility and atmosphere for a high-quality learning experience for your child.
The Erie Elementary preschool program serves 3- and 4-year-old children. The program emphasizes kindergarten readiness by providing high-quality early childhood experiences in safe, supportive and stimulating environments. Classrooms meet quality standards, state licensing requirements and have low adult-to-child ratios. Students enrolling for preschool must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before Oct. 1.
Erie Elementary offers tuition-based preschool in a half-day format, Monday through Friday. The morning session runs from 8:40 to 11:20 a.m., and the afternoon session runs from 12:35 to 3:15 p.m.
For the 2026-2027 school year, we will be adding a full day option. The full-day ECE classroom is scheduled to run from 8:55 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will include a planned nap/rest period. Students in the full-day program will also receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. You may also contact the Early Childhood Office for additional information.
The Enrollment Options:
Tuition-based preschool opportunities include either class options for all eligible students. All preschool classrooms are half-day mornings or afternoons. Parents and guardians must complete the tuition based application. Annual rates can be found on the preschool website.
Special Education within St. Vrain Valley Schools identifies children ages birth to 21 who may be eligible to receive special education services. Federal and state law requires eligible children to receive free preschool once the student has turned 3 years of age. Our Preschool Program works collaboratively with the Child Find staff (District Special Education Department) in the assessment, identification and programming for children with disabilities. If a child qualifies for special education services, the Child Find team partners with parents and guardians to determine the appropriate placement and services based on each students individual needs.
Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado program provides state-funded preschool for eligible four-year-olds. Children must be 4 years old on or before October 1 to qualify. All four-year-olds are eligible for 15 hours of free preschool each week, with additional hours available for children who meet qualifying factors such as family income, dual language learning, or an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Families must complete both the UPK Colorado application and the SVVSD preschool application to secure funding and placement.
