- Community Schools
I am a native of Colorado and was born at the same hospital as my mother. My childhood years were spent in Wheat Ridge, CO and I graduated as a Wheat Ridge Farmer. Then I went to Kansas to get my teaching degree at Bethany College. After getting married, I moved back to the beautiful state of Colorado. During my first year of teaching in Colorado, I pursued my Master's degree at the University of Colorado/Boulder (Go Buffs!)
Currently, I am starting my 33rd year of teaching. A majority of these years have been at Erie Elementary (26 years). My experience includes Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. (No third grade-ever/yet!) In between teaching jobs I was a substitute for 2 years. That really opened my eyes to good strategies and working with various populations!
One of my quirky skills is that I used to drive a school bus! Not for the schools, but for a summer day camp. Never know when you might use that skill! I also worked at Casa Bonita for 10 years (a Denver Landmark). A great place to take all your out of town relatives!
In my spare time I like to research geneology, garden, scrapbook, entertain, do crafts, and travel. My husband and I are empty nesters, as the kids are young adults (mid 20's) and are off on their own adventures. Our future plans include lots of traveling and adjusting our home for just 2 people. ( We are big history buffs and we hope to see as many of the places in the world that we can!) We love the community that we have lived in and worked in for the last 28 years!
it is a pleasure to teach at Erie Elementary -always the best school around!
